All Japan Track 2023

Report

@Izu Velodrome

The 92nd All Japan Cycling Championships track race was held from May 11th. At the Izu Velodrome, the sacred place for track events, a number of heated competitions were held this year as well to determine the title of All-Japan Champion.

TEAM BRIDGESTONE Cycling set a Japanese record in team pursuit for the first time in three years. In the Omnium, Shoichi Matsuda became a new hero by holding off his teammates, who had a great lineup. The women's team sprint was held as an exhibition at this tournament. BMX rider Aki Sakai joined him in the first race and suddenly set a Japanese record. I was greeted to the scene with surprise. On the men's side, Yoshitaku Nagasako, a former BMX rider, has achieved results in the same position, so we have high hopes for Sakai's future successes. Rakuten K Dreams participated in the women's team pursuit with all members. After the Tokyo Olympics, the members of the national team for this event remained uncertain for a long time, but with the young girls and Yumi Kajiwara, the team will be making full-fledged preparations for Paris. And Keirin has talented men and women who can compete on the world stage. In particular, much attention was focused on Mizuna Sato, who won the silver medal at the most recent World Championships for the second consecutive year. This year, he calmly read the race and won the All Japan Championship. We will be heading into the World Championships in August with high expectations.
